September 15, 2016 Minutes

At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Fire and Police Pension Fund Board of Directors held on the 15th day of September 2016, President Craig Joel presided.  The meeting was held at the Pension Office, 6009 John Douglass Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

The meeting convened at 0913 hours with board members Craig Joel, Kelly Simmons, Mark Coffman, Charlie Thomason, Tommy Meeks, and Vickie Haley. Attorney Bill Robinson was also present.

Motion by Charlie Thomason and seconded by Mark Coffman to approve the minutes of the September 1, 2016 and September 6, 2016 meetings. Motion carried unanimously.

Fire Lieutenant Vernon Lane appeared before the Board and submitted an application for Job Related Disability.

Attorney Bill Robinson reported that the 6th Circuit Court has empaneled three justices, including the Chief Justice, for the Frazier case.  The hearing is scheduled for September 27, 2016 in Cincinnati.

Motion by Tommy Meeks and seconded by Kelly Simmons to approve the following membership items:

REFUND CONTRIBUTIONS:

  • Former Police Officer Brion P. Posey, terminated 09/09/2016, pension participation date of 06/27/2008 (2-413)

Motion carried unanimously.

The Board reviewed the bills paid since the last meeting.

Frank Hamilton presented the proposed RFP for Investment Consulting Services to the Board for review. The Board discussed the RFP.  Mr. Hamilton stated that the RFP will go out as soon as practical.

 Motion by Charlie Thomason and seconded by Kelly Simmons to adjourn at 0953 hours. Motion carried unanimously.

  • Fund Staff have reviewed the results of the Pension election and have found no discrepancies
  • Police Officer Joseph Sabba – IME scheduled 09/19/2016; tentative disability hearing on 10/20/2016
