June 4, 2015 Minutes

At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Fire and Police Pension Fund Board of Directors held on the 4th day of June 2015, President Chris Willmore presided. The meeting was held at the Pension Office, 6009 John Douglass Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

The meeting convened at 0911 hours with board members Chris Willmore, Kelly Simmons, Less Lee, Jerome Halbert, Craig Joel, and Phillip McClain. Brent Goldberg joined the meeting at 0919 hours. Attorney Bill Robinson was also present.

Motion by Craig Joel and seconded by Less Lee to approve the minutes from the May 21, 2015 meeting. Motion carried unanimously.

Attorney Bill Robinson discussed alternative funding sources that have been researched by an intern in his office. Mr. Robinson provided the Board legal guidance on the adoption of the Funding Policy.

Motion by Less Lee and seconded by Jerome Halbert to approve the following membership changes:

REMOVE FROM THE ROLLS:
    • Retired Police Officer Nathan P. Rogers, effective 05/31/2015, died 05/23/2015 (2-416)
    • Retired Fire Relief Driver David R. Brown, effective 5/31/2015, died 5/28/2015 (2-411)
ADD TO THE ROLLS:
    • Sarah Ann Rogers, 100% J&S of Nathan P. Rogers, effective 06/01/2015 (2-416 and 2-418)
PAY DEATH BENEFITS:
    • Sarah Ann Rogers, designated beneficiary of Nathan P. Rogers (2-410)

Motion carried unanimously.

The Board discussed and reviewed final recommendations for the Funding Policy. Motion by Craig Joel and seconded by Jerome Halbert to approve the policy and submit to City Council for adoption by resolution. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Phillip McClain and seconded by Jerome Halbert to adjourn at 1038 hours. Motion carried unanimously.
