February 6, 2014 minutes

At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Fire and Police Pension Fund held on the 6th day of February 2014, President Chris Willmore presided.  The meeting was held at the Pension Office, 6009 John Douglass Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

 The meeting convened at 0901 hours with board members Chris Willmore, Jerome Halbert, Shawn O’Kelley, Phillip McClain, Mark Coffman, Craig Joel, Brent Goldberg and Less Lee.  Attorney Bill Robinson was also present.

 Motion by Craig Joel and seconded by Jerome Halbert to approve the minutes from the January 16, 2014 meeting.  Motion carried unanimously.

 Attorney Bill Robinson reported to the Board that the hearing on the Officer Perry Walden case was again moved from the scheduled February 3, 2014 date to March 17, 2014.  Mr. Robinson reported that Officer Walden’s attorney may have a conflict and have to recuse himself from the case.

 Motion by Shawn O’Kelley and seconded by Jerome Halbert to approve the following membership changes:

The motion carried unanimously.

Rachael Watkins of Full Media appeared before the Board to discuss extending the services currently offered by Full Media.  The Board discussed the proposal.  Motion by Craig Joel and seconded by Phillip McClain to extend Full Media’s contract for 3 months.  Motion passed 6-2.

Bradley D. Church of Private Ridge Wealth Management, Retired Police Officer Johnny Frazier, Retired Police Sergeant Kirk Salter, and Fire Captain Tim Zink, Retired Fire Captain Bill Melhorn, Retired Fire Captain Darrell Burt, and Retired Fire Captain Bill Sparks appeared before the Board to ask questions and express their opinions on the consensus of the Mayor’s Pension Task Force.

Motion by Brent Goldberg and seconded by Jerome Halbert to pay the bills.  Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Phillip McClain and seconded by Mark Coffman to adjourn at 1014 hours.  Motion carried unanimously.
