At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Fire and Police Pension Fund held on the 19th day of December 2013, Vice President Shawn O’Kelley presided. The meeting was held at the Pension Office, 6009 John Douglass Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
The meeting convened at 0904 hours with board members Shawn O’Kelley, Brent Goldberg, Jerome Halbert, Phillip McClain, Mark Coffman, and Craig Joel. Attorney Bill Robinson was also present. Chris Willmore was an excused absence.
Motion by Mark Coffman and seconded by Jerome Halbert to approve the minutes from the December 5, 2013 meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Lupina Haney appeared before the Board to thank them for allowing her to work for the Fund over the past 12 years and to express her support for Fire and Police. The Board thanked Lupina.
Fund Attorney Bill Robinson notified the Board that a hearing in the Perry Walden lawsuit that was scheduled this month has been postponed to February 3, 2014.

The motion carried unanimously.
Vice President O’Kelley stated that he was made aware that the City issued an RFQ for actuarial services that specifically included the Fire and Police Pension Fund. Mr. O’Kelley asked Brent Goldberg if he knew why this RFQ has been issued. Mr. Goldberg stated he was not aware that the RFQ was issued by the City Purchasing Department.
Motion by Phillip McClain and seconded by Mark Coffman to pay the bills. Motion carried unanimously.
Retired Fire Captain Bill Melhorn appeared before the Board and expressed concern that no information was coming out of the Pension Task Force and its Working Group. Mr. Melhorn stated that he is concerned as a retiree and especially concerned for active participants.
Fire Captain, and Mayor Appointee to the Task Force, David Brooks, appeared before the Board and addressed the audience, said he had a scenario presented by Vijay Kapoor of PFM dated December 5, 2013. Mr. Brooks stated that “the scenarios get worse and worse” and that he would show the latest scenario to anyone who would like to see it.
Motion by Phillip McClain and seconded by Mark Coffman to adjourn at 0930 hours. Motion carried unanimously.
