March 20, 2014 Minutes
At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Fire and Police Pension Fund held on the 20th day of March 2014, President Chris Willmore presided. The meeting was held at the Pension Office, 6009 John Douglass Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
The meeting convened at 0911 hours with board members Chris Willmore, Phillip McClain, Mark Coffman, Shawn O’Kelley and Less Lee. Attorney Bill Robinson was also present. Jerome Halbert , Craig Joel and Brent Goldberg were excused.
Motion by Less Lee and seconded by Mark Coffman to approve the minutes from the March 3, 2014 meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Attorney Bill Robinson reported that Officer Perry Walden’s attorney has recused himself from the case filed against the General Pension Plan and the CFPPF. Mr. Robinson stated that a hearing has been scheduled for June 16, 2014.
Motion by Shawn O’Kelley and seconded by Mark Coffman to approve the following membership changes:
ADD TO THE ROLLS:
Senior Firefighter Arthur L. Harris, Jr., vesting with 17 years of service, terminated 02/05/2014, adjusted participation date of 8/15/1996, benefit to commence effective 3/1/2014 (2-415)
Sergeant James Phil Headden, with 25 years of service and a 10 month DROP, reduced for J&S Option C (75%), effective 03/08/2014, participation date of 05/06/1988 (2-411 and 2-422)
REFUND CONTRIBUTIONS:
Retired Fire Captain Russell E. Rymer, refund of additional 1% (2-423(d))
Police Officer Dale Taylor, terminated effective 02/07/2014, participation date of 11/19/1999 (2-415)
Police Officer James Vinson, terminated effective 03/7/2014, participation date of 02/06/2009 (2-413)
The motion carried unanimously.
The Board discussed whether or not to request an independent medical exam for Michael Dewayne Davenport. The Board decided to postpone making a decision until all sworn Board members have reviewed the full set of medical records based on information received from Mr. Davenport.
Motion by Shawn O’Kelley and seconded by Less Lee to pay the bills. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Shawn O’Kelley and seconded by Phillip McClain to adjourn at 0923 hours. Motion carried unanimously.
