January 17, 2013 Minutes

At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Fire and Police Pension Fund held on the 17th day of January 2013, President Terry Knowles presided.  The meeting was held at the Pension Office, 6009 John Douglass Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

The meeting convened at 0912 hours with board members Terry Knowles, Chris Willmore, Corliss Cooper, Jerome Halbert, Shawn O’Kelley, Phillip McClain, and Ray Ryan.  Attorney Bill Robinson was also present.

Motion by Corliss Cooper and seconded by Shawn O’Kelley to approve the minutes from the January 3, 2013 meeting.  Motion carried unanimously.

Senior Firefighter Tracy Williams appeared before the Board to present an application for Job Related Disability.  President Knowles reviewed the application and noted that in June 2012, FFS Williams was cleared to return to work regarding the job related injury.  FFS Williams stated that he has a medical condition that aggravates his job-related injury, but agreed that he was cleared to work with no restrictions related to his on-the-job injury.  Attorney Robinson stated that Mr. Williams could continue his application for job related disability and the Board would review the evidence of the on-the-job injury only, or Mr. Williams could amend his application for the Board to review his non-job related illness.  In light of this information, President Knowles asked FFS Williams if he wishes to continue his application for a job related disability.  FFS Williams asked if rescinding his application would prevent him from submitting a disability application at a later date.  President Knowles said rescinding the application would not prevent a future application for disability.  FFS Williams rescinded his application for job related disability.

Shawn O’Kelley verified with the rest of the Board that only those members actively employed with the City as a sworn Police Officer of Firefighter, are permitted to apply for disability.  The other Board members agreed.

Motion by Corliss Cooper and seconded by Chris Willmore to approve the following membership changes:
